In Fatekeeper, a moment of hesitation can be enough to take an arrow to the chest.

Developer Paraglacial is attempting to make those encounters more readable while addressing two major community requests: controller support and localization.

The German studio released update 0.1.4 for its first-person action RPG on October 30, 2026.

The game remains available through Steam Early Access.

This is more than a convenience patch. Movement speed, spells, enemy behavior and exploration rewards have all received adjustments.

Controller support is finally available

The most anticipated feature concerns input controls.

Fatekeeper now supports gamepads, addressing a frequent request from players since the beginning of Early Access.

Paraglacial acknowledges that implementing the feature took considerably longer than originally anticipated.

The team had to adapt elements of the input system and user interface to provide a coherent experience.

Most gameplay functions can now be accessed with a controller.

However, some menus still require further refinement.

The developer specifically identifies controller navigation as an area where additional work will continue.

Some PlayStation 4 controllers may also encounter detection problems.

In those cases, Paraglacial recommends trying to disable Steam Input through the game's controller properties.

The feature is available now, but the studio is not presenting every aspect of its implementation as finished.

French joins four other languages

Another major addition is French localization.

Update 0.1.4 introduces German, French, Russian, Ukrainian and Simplified Chinese.

These languages make the RPG accessible to a broader audience.

Understanding item descriptions, character abilities and crafting systems is especially important in a game built around flexible character progression.

However, Paraglacial cautions that some of the newly added translations are still works in progress.

Not every localization has reached the same level of polish.

The developer plans to review and improve the existing translations as development continues.

Additional languages are also planned for future updates.

Player movement is approximately 15% faster

The patch also changes how characters move through Fatekeeper's environments.

Paraglacial has increased player movement speed by approximately 15%.

The adjustment should make exploration quicker and repositioning during combat more responsive.

In a first-person action RPG, movement speed has a direct influence on how encounters feel.

A more mobile character may find it easier to change position, avoid attacks and exploit openings.

That does not necessarily make every battle easier.

It does, however, change a fundamental gameplay characteristic rather than simply introducing a new interface setting.

Enemy archers are less accurate

Enemy archers were among the opponents capable of causing particular frustration.

Paraglacial acknowledges that their accuracy could feel excessive.

The update reworks their behavior so their attacks should no longer appear almost impossibly precise.

Archers also react more strongly when interrupted.

A well-timed fire spell can now disrupt their attacks more effectively.

The change encourages players to use different abilities to regain control of an encounter.

Paraglacial has also fixed an issue that caused enemies to move unnaturally toward the player's new position during dodges.

These adjustments aim to make enemy attacks more consistent and understandable.

Spells and traps become more effective

Several magical abilities have received improvements.

The range of certain spells, including Firespark, has been increased.

The developers want players to be able to reach distant opponents, particularly enemy archers, more reliably.

Tremor and Elemental Fortress have received substantial power increases.

Fire Trap and Frost Trap have also been strengthened.

These modifications aim to make previously underused abilities more worthwhile.

Explosive Bombs and Shrapnel Bombs now provide more effective results.

Additional crafting ingredients for grenades have also been distributed throughout the world.

This should make those consumables easier to use regularly rather than forcing players to conserve limited supplies.

The overall balance implications will become clearer as players experiment with magic and alchemy builds.

New equipment and better rewards

Exploration rewards are another focus of the update.

Paraglacial has added new clubs and amulets.

The contents of numerous chests and containers have been adjusted to make exploration more rewarding.

Previously, discovering a hidden location or defeating difficult enemies could sometimes result in an underwhelming reward.

The developers want a better relationship between the effort required and the items players receive.

The patch also fixes calculations affecting the duration and efficiency of certain ingredients and crafted items.

Another correction addresses weapon coatings and damage scaling during unarmed combat.

Together, these changes should make equipment and alchemy behavior more consistent with the game's descriptions.

Boss health bars become optional

Several interface improvements affect combat encounters.

Boss enemies can now display health bars.

The feature is optional, allowing players who prefer a less intrusive interface to disable it.

The alchemy menu also includes short tutorial windows.

Item descriptions now provide clearer summaries of alchemy effects.

Selection highlights and other menu elements have been improved for better readability.

These changes support controller navigation while also benefiting mouse and keyboard players.

Improved combat feedback and an updated engine

Paraglacial continues to refine the feeling of close-range combat.

Attack camera movement, weapon sway and visual feedback when strikes connect have been adjusted.

Further improvements to melee attacks and blocking are intended to make encounters feel smoother.

The developer has also introduced an initial round of improvements to blood and gore effects.

Fire and ice trap visuals have been substantially updated.

On the technical side, Fatekeeper now uses Unreal Engine 5.8.3.

Paraglacial has made additional changes to the Medium graphics preset and continues working on lower scalability settings.

The announcement does not establish a particular frame-rate improvement across all PC configurations.

Players can also disable the field-of-view effect associated with starting and stopping a sprint.

A substantial content update is planned for winter

Paraglacial is continuing development beyond version 0.1.4.

Several smaller patches are planned over the coming weeks.

These will focus in part on further controller improvements and localization fixes.

The developer is also preparing its first substantial content update for winter 2026.

Its level design, art and audio teams have already been working on that release.

However, the studio has not announced a firm launch date or a complete feature list.

Additional changes to the skill tree and selected equipment are also planned.

Those future improvements should not be confused with the features already available in patch 0.1.4.

Fatekeeper remains in Early Access

Fatekeeper is a first-person dark fantasy action RPG developed by the small German team Paraglacial and published by THQ Nordic.

Its gameplay combines melee combat, magic, exploration and flexible character progression across handcrafted environments.

The game entered Steam Early Access in June 2026 and continues to evolve based on community feedback.

The October update represents a meaningful accessibility milestone.

Controller support and French localization remove two significant barriers for prospective players.

Changes to movement, combat and rewards also demonstrate that Paraglacial is continuing to refine the game's foundations before its full release.

Fatekeeper update 0.1.4 is available now on Steam for PC.

No confirmed date has been announced for version 1.0 or potential console releases.
