Helldivers 2's Scope of Authority Warbond wants you to become your squad's designated marksman
Scope of Authority arrived in Helldivers 2 on October 20. Arrowhead Game Studios' latest Premium Warbond emphasizes precision shooting, battlefield control and concealment. Its equipment includes the R-40 Sightliner sniper rifle, AMW-20 Apex anti-materiel rifle, LAS-44 Nova energy weapon and two armor sets sharing the Stationary Shroud passive.
Helldivers 2 offers plenty of ways to solve a battlefield problem with a spectacular explosion. Scope of Authority takes a slightly more restrained approach. Its latest equipment encourages players to find a good position, identify dangerous targets and engage before the enemy closes the distance.
The Premium Warbond was announced by Arrowhead on October 13 for an October 20 launch. It introduces weapons designed around accuracy and armor penetration, alongside equipment intended to improve concealment and control enemy movement.
The R-40 Sightliner rewards careful positioning
The R-40 Sightliner is a bolt-action primary sniper rifle built for long-range precision and powerful armor-piercing shots.
Its intended role is different from that of a general-purpose assault rifle. A marksman can focus on individual threats while depending on squadmates and a suitable secondary weapon to handle enemies that approach more quickly.
The P-44 Mist provides that close-range alternative. It is a compact, one-handed machine pistol designed to give precision-focused players a faster response when fighting becomes less predictable.

Together, the weapons suggest a straightforward loadout philosophy: deliberate shots at range, followed by rapid defensive fire when enemies break through.
The effectiveness of that combination will depend on real weapon statistics, enemy armor and the kinds of encounters players face during missions.
The AMW-20 Apex targets the heaviest threats
Arrowhead describes the AMW-20 Apex as a large anti-materiel rifle capable of penetrating heavily armored targets. It uses backpack-fed ammunition and an assisted reload system.
That configuration gives the weapon a cooperative dimension. Organizing the equipment and reload process may be important when deploying it against particularly resilient enemies.
The LAS-44 Nova offers another approach to precision. It fires a non-explosive thermal projectile following a short charging sequence and uses the ammunition characteristics associated with energy weapons.
Arrowhead also highlights improvements to its cooling behavior. Those claims describe the intended functionality, not unlimited sustained fire under every circumstance.
G-11 Caltrops create opportunities for precision fire
The new G-11 Caltrops scatter proximity-triggered submunitions across an area. Enemies entering that zone can be slowed and stunned.
This makes the equipment particularly relevant to precision loadouts. A moving target is harder to hit than one briefly restricted by battlefield-control effects.
Caltrops may also help cover a retreat or protect a position while the squad reloads. Their actual usefulness will depend on placement, terrain and the behavior of enemy units.
Two armor sets share a concealment passive
The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal is a lightweight armor inspired by traditional ghillie suits. Its cosmetic set includes the Mimetic Mesh cape and player card.
The SS-15 Focal Point uses medium armor and combines a more technological appearance with an asymmetrical visor. It comes with matching Boundary Banner cosmetics.

Both sets feature Stationary Shroud, a passive that reduces weapon sway and enemy detection range while the character is crouched or prone.
The posture requirement matters. The passive is designed to reward concealed positioning rather than offering its full benefits during unrestricted movement.
Premium access still requires progression
Scope of Authority also includes the Manual Ballistic Projection emote and the Longshot player title.
Arrowhead specifies that the Warbond requires the base game, Super Credits and progression to unlock its contents. Purchasing access does not automatically place every reward in the player's equipment inventory.
The official announcement does not provide a complete statistical comparison with existing loadouts. Claims that the new weapons are essential or competitively dominant would therefore require further evidence.
For now, the central design idea is clear. Scope of Authority provides several complementary tools for a designated marksman, giving squads more reasons to consider long-range engagement and concealment instead of relying exclusively on overwhelming firepower.
