Phantom Blade Zero lets players dismantle a bad build instead of living with it
Weapon variety is easy to advertise. The harder question is what happens after a player spends hours upgrading one sword and then finds something much more interesting. Phantom Blade Zero finally has an answer.
Enemies can become part of Soul's arsenal
S-GAME says Phantom Blade Zero contains more than 30 primary weapons alongside 25 secondary Phantom Edges. Some defeated enemies can surrender weapons of their own, turning particular encounters into progression opportunities rather than one-off demonstrations of moves the player never gets to use.
Weapons support upgrades and accessories, while S-GAME also points to ranged options and summons among the possible combat setups.
Reforging is designed to remove the sunk-cost problem
An upgraded weapon can be reforged and its invested materials recovered. Those resources can then be spent on another weapon.
That is a useful rule for a game trying to make experimentation part of its identity. A late discovery does not automatically become inferior simply because the player committed materials to an earlier favorite.
Difficulty is doing more than scaling one damage number
Wayfarer is the story-oriented option. At the other end, Hellwalker is described as using more advanced and adaptive enemy intelligence.
S-GAME has not published enough technical detail to define exactly how that adaptation behaves across every encounter, so the claim is better treated as a difficulty feature to verify at release rather than a solved AI system.
Sixty-Six Days sits beyond Hellwalker as another high-challenge option. Its name mirrors Soul's remaining lifespan, although the August post stops short of spelling out every rule attached to the mode.
Optional stories can alter what the player sees
Side quests in the Wulin can reveal secrets and, in some cases, open additional story paths. S-GAME is therefore tying optional exploration to more than equipment and upgrade materials.
Soul begins the story framed for killing his master and suffering from a fatal heart wound. He has sixty-six days left to uncover the conspiracy surrounding him.
The release date depends slightly on region
S-GAME lists October 29, 2026 as the main launch date for Phantom Blade Zero on PS5 and PC. The US and select regions unlock on October 28, which is also the date currently shown on Steam.
The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and is designed as a single-player action RPG.
